Calabria, Taras Coins
Calabria is one of the oldest regions of Italy and formerly a Greek colony. It is the area of Southern Italy which forms the "toe" of the Italian Peninsula.
Taras, named after the son of the Greek sea god Poseidon, was a city in the Calabria region founded in 707 BC by Spartans. The symbol of this Greek city, even today, is Taras riding a dolphin.
