Here we have a very attractive, mint state example of the gold stater struck under Mithridates who ruled from 120-64 B.C.
The detail and strike on this particular example are very bold with remarkable detail on the obverse and reverse. The obverse depicts what is thought to be an image of Alexander the Great, with Athena, the goddess of War, on the reverse.
Mint state examples are highly prized because these coins were produced under extremely crude conditions. Only one coin available.
