Be the first to review this product
If you're looking for some of the oldest, rarest and unique coinage known today, then you must consider the earliest of all coinage: electrum. Electrum is what coins were made of starting 650 B.C.--it is a naturally occurring mixture of gold and silver and could be found in and around streams and riverbeds. These electrum staters are some of the earliest and most valuable of all early coinage and this one depicts a sphinx on the obverse, while the back has a 4-way incuse punch. Very nice coin and remarkable that it was made 2,500 years ago.
