This silver denarius of Emperor Vespasian was minted in Ephesus between AD 69-79, during the early years of the Flavian dynasty. Vespasian ruled from AD 69-79 and established the Flavian dynasty after the tumultuous Year of the Four Emperors, bringing stability to the Roman Empire after the civil wars that followed Nero's death.
The obverse displays a laureate portrait of Vespasian facing right, with the legend IMP CAES VESPASIANVS AVG visible around the rim. The portrait shows good detail with clear facial features and well-defined drapery. The reverse features Nike advancing right, holding a wreath and palm branch, with the inscription AVGVSTVS around the border, celebrating imperial victory and divine favor.
This denarius has been graded Extremely Fine by NGC, showing moderate circulation wear but retaining sharp design elements and clear legends. The silver surfaces display an attractive gray patina typical of ancient Roman coins, with even wear patterns consistent with the grade. This represents an excellent example of Flavian imperial coinage from the important mint of Ephesus. The coin pictured is the exact coin you will receive.
