The Eastern Roman Empire, also referred to as the Byzantine Empire, was the continuation of the Roman Empire. Even though the Western Roman Empire fell in the 5th century, the Easter Roman Empire contiuned to exist for another thousand years. For ancient coins we will list the first 400 years up through the Amorian Dynasty 820 - 867 AD.
